Gatlinburg has visitor-worthy events all year round. Spring, summer, winter and fall, there are plenty of reasons to visit this natural Appalachian wonderland. Nature, music, arts and crafts, winter sports, summer sports, thrill rides, shopping--you name it, it's going on in Gatlinburg.

Year Round Fun in Gatlinburg

In the early part of the year, starting January 1st, the city presents itself as a "fantasy of lights." Over two million individual bulbs make up dazzling displays making the nights particularly beautiful. February features special romantic displays, making evening promenades a breathtaking event. Night skiing, and other winter sports events are a favorite draw, bringing couples and families back year after year.

Spring and summer in this part of the country is magical. Springfest is an annual event that celebrates the season, with dogwood festivals, craft shows and classes, and wildflower weekends. Scenic tours are particularly popular this time of year as the flora and fauna wake up after their long winter's nap. Summer features raft regattas, the enormously popular Craftsman Festival, and major fireworks displays. The water parks are open, swimming in pools and lakes is encouraged, and it's open season on romance and outdoor pursuits. Hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is but one outdoor pleasure enjoyed by millions, as is bicycling along the park's trails and picnicking in her meadows.

Fall and winter, too, find delights galore in Gatlinburg. The annual changing of the leaves brings visitors from all over the world. Harvest festivals provide a showcase for local musicians, storytellers, and master craftsmen. And Ober Gatlinburg, the winter sports resort, gets good reviews for offering all kinds of fun activities.
