No accommodation in the world is better suited to a Smoky Mountain holiday than a log cabin. The purple mountain's majesty rises before you, green, green grass rolls behind you, and your little cabin sits merrily in the middle, with smoke from the fireplace pluming cheerfully out the chimney. When you stay in a Smoky Mountain cabin rental, where you stay becomes as much a part of your vacation as the region itself.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park is truly one of the most beautiful, awe-inspiring spots in the United States. An astonishing amount of wildlife can be seen on every visit. It's not unusual to witness wild hogs, wolves, and even black bears during a park holiday. Deer are a common sight, and if one travels during October and November, even the normally shy breeding bucks can be seen stepping out from the leafy cover to find a lucky doe.

The park is 95 percent old growth, too. It's 100,000 acres represent 80 percent of the eastern United States' forests. Over 1,500 species of various plants have been documented here, providing a wonderful cornucopia for the resident wildlife.

Smoky Mountain Cabin Rentals: Cozy and Warm

To drive through, hike, picnic or otherwise spend time in this nature preserve is one of the most spiritually rewarding vacations one can experience. It's a shame that so many uninformed visitors leave the park, only to return to a concrete and carpeted cubicle. Staying in a cabin, with its pine log supports, oaken floors, and stone fireplace blazing is one way to bring the nature home.
