Texas Scrapbooking Retreats

Now that scrapbooking is a recognized and increasingly popular hobby, it's no wonder people are seeking retreats to focus on this relaxing pastime. And why not go to Texas? The Lone Star State has plenty of secluded inns and bed and breakfasts that offer the peace and quiet you need with all the amenities of a big-city hotel--plus a lot more charm.

Sorting Your Memories in a Scrapbook

I have never been to a retreat to put together a scrapbook, but I have to admit I did something very similar. While spending a weekend in a quaint bed and breakfast in the Midwest, I brought some empty photo albums and boxes of pictures that I hadn't seen in years. The comfortable accommodations, which were large enough for my sprawling photos, were ideal for focusing on arranging my memories.

There is something about the slow-paced serenity of a retreat that lets you put your priorities back in order. Maybe it's the lack of traffic or annoying phones going off. Maybe it has to do with the natural surroundings; when people want to bring things down a notch or two, nature provides a peaceful backdrop. You need that serenity if you are going to prepare mementos and collect them in a book.

There are numerous Bed and Breakfasts within the heart of Texas, each one as individual as the people who lovingly own and operate them. Many are secluded--some near cattle ranches or quiet lakes--making them an ideal getaway for a retreat to scrapbook, or even just to catch up on reading. Either way, they make appropriate places to leave work behind and focus on a hobby that's dear to you.
