Japan Vacations

Japanese vacations can be greatly enriched with a little Japanese language preparation before embarking on your trip. If you're like most Westerners, you've probably never spoken a sentence of Japanese. Maybe you've never even heard Japanese spoken, other than on the TV and in movies. However, this doesn't mean that you can't learn, in a very short amount of time, some very valuable basics in Japanese.

Foreign language learning techniques have advanced considerably in the last two decades, so if you think that learning a foreign language is going to be like it was in high school, think again. Typical high school foreign language courses have traditionally taught through rote memorization. This technique tends to be painstaking, time consuming, and boring because it requires you to memorize thousands of words, with little connection to what you already know.

Japanese for Vacations

Because of the lack of context provided in traditional foreign language instruction, many students have failed at learning. The shame is that many of them enter adulthood with the firm belief that they're incapable of learning foreign languages. "My brain just doesn't grasp foreign languages," I've often heard people say. If only they knew that the fault probably lies with the technique, and not with them!

Another misconception about learning foreign languages is that you have to have studied a language for years before you can begin putting it to use in your travels. This is simply not true. There are many cases of mature business travelers who, through necessity of their work, must quickly learn basic Japanese ... and they do it, with the help of some of today's top language instruction programs.
