Pagosa Springs Vacations

Pagosa Springs attracts thousands of outdoorsmen each year. Located in the Colorado Mountains, Pagosa Springs offers people the opportunity to escape into the natural world, breathe fresh air, and take in the magnificence of the Rocky Mountains. Over the years, the most popular Pagosa Springs pastimes have been elk hunting and skiing.

During the wintertime, many people rent cabins in the woods. Snow covers the ground, making people's surroundings white and beautiful. Hunters dress warmly and find trees in which they can remain still and wait for elk. Hunters show tremendous patience, as it sometimes takes hours for elk to arrive. Diehard hunters believe that the thrill of the hunt is well worth the wait.

After spending hours in the cold, hunters can return to their warm cabins, where they share hunting stories with one another, drink coffee and hot cocoa to warm up, and then usually turn to whiskey or beer. In the morning, they do it all over again. It's a lifestyle well chronicled in many of Hemingway's short stories. Some cabins are located practically in the middle of nowhere, presenting natural dangers to kids.

Skiing at Pagosa Springs

Pagosa Springs is located near excellent ski resorts as well. The snow on the Rocky Mountains is well known for its powdery quality, which is different from the icy snow out East. Plenty of families take annual ski trips together. The best resorts accommodate people at all levels.
