Sedona, Arizona is known for its unique geological formations and natural beauty. Located in the heart of the Arizona desert, the landscape of Sedona resembles the red and brown coloration of the Grand Canyon. The unique rock formations, which rise from the ground conically, feature visible layers of bedrock, each of which represents various geological periods. Set against the large blue sky, the redness forms a distinct contrast with the heavens.

People visit Sedona for quietude and serenity in one of Mother Nature's masterful creations. Sedona is an ideal place for hiking and exploration, so long as people remember to bring plenty of water with them. The Arizona heat and dryness necessitate frequent hydration. Places as pristine and peaceful as Sedona are ideal for people who want to escape urban chaos and enjoy good novels in the quiet outdoors.

From Sedona, vacationers often travel to the Grand Canyon, which President Theodore Roosevelt had described nearly 100 years ago as a national treasure and one of the most beautiful places in the world. The size and beauty of the Canyon make ideal photo opportunities. Having seen the Grand Canyon in person, I can attest that photographs cannot fully capture the beauty of the landmark.

Places to Stay on Sedona Vacations

For prices comparable to local hotel rooms, people can rent fully furnished vacation homes in Sedona. Some rentals come with swimming pools, necessary to escape the heat, and hot tubs, which make perfect hangouts for stargazing during the chilly desert nights. Most people feel more comfortable and relaxed in rental homes, especially if they have kids.
