Palm Springs is the ultimate location for a memorable vacation. The variety of activities is endless and sure to please most types of vacationers. Many people come to Palm Springs to enjoy the warm sunshine and relax by the swimming pool. Others pursue outdoor sports at world class golf courses and tennis facilities. Casinos, shopping, dining, and sightseeing are also popular activities in Palm Springs.

Active Palm Springs Vacations

Those who desire adventurous activities will not be disappointed in Palm Springs. Hot air balloon rides are offered as well as parachuting and helicopter tours. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway is one of the world's largest cable cars. It travels to the top of Mt. San Jacinto, reaching an elevation of 9,000 feet. Vacationers may want to hike, ski, or take in the view of the desert below. Museums, botanical gardens, and a zoo are popular sightseeing options as well.

Palm Springs has a well-known history of being a vacation spot for movie stars. Downtown Palm Springs is famous for Palm Canyon Drive, a half mile strip of eclectic shopping. Upscale choices include Gucci and Saks Fifth Avenue. But the strip also offers out of the ordinary bookstores and souvenir shops. Popular local restaurants prosper in this area. More recently, casinos have become a part of the Palm Springs experience. They offer gaming, dining, entertainment, and deluxe accommodations.

Vacation rental options may be found online. Choices include hotels, resort villas, houses, and condos. Luxury resorts include the Wyndham Hotel, the Hyatt Regency, and the Parker Meridien (formerly Givenchy Resort), which is famous for having had Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra as regular guests. Condominiums and houses are available for rent by the weekend, week, or month.
