This one is a maybe. Fenugreek is available in the form of seeds and leaves. Some people feed fenugreek in both these forms to their dogs.
They believe that fenugreek has several health benefits for canines including lowering blood sugar, reducing cholesterol, preventing inflammation, and helping with weight management.
However, another line of thought is that, in large amounts, fenugreek could cause allergic reactions in dogs. Dogs could suffer from diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain after eating fenugreek.
In large doses, fenugreek could cause a massive drop in the dog’s blood sugar. In some cases, it could result in liver toxicity in dogs. If your pet has eaten fenugreek and appears lethargic, please see your vet right away.
Fenugreek has a bitter taste; both, the leaves and seeds of this herb are quite bitter so it isn’t surprising that most dogs don’t care for it.
Never feed fenugreek to pregnant dogs as studies have shown an increased risk of birth defects.
To be on the safe side, please avoid feeding fenugreek to your fur buddy.
To ensure your pet will live a long and healthy life, it is always a good idea to invest in pet health insurance. Preparing for the unexpected guarantees money is never an issue in keeping you pup healthy.
