Rice beans (also known as ricebeans, red beans, or oriental beans) belong to the same family of beans adzuki beans. They are not toxic to dogs but they also do not provide much nutrition to your pet. However, dog owners have been known to feed all kinds of beans to dogs for their protein content.
Ricebeans contain protein and fiber as well as antioxidants which can help fight cellular damage in dogs. The protein in ricebeans could help your dog build muscles.
However, we must not forget that dogs are carnivores and they primarily need meat protein. So, even if you feed ricebeans to your pet, they must not be the only source of protein for your dog.
Do remember that ricebeans also contain oxalates, especially in the raw form. These could result in stones in dogs. Therefore, you must not feed raw ricebeans to your dog and especially to dogs having kidney issues.
Also, excess consumption of any kind of beans could result in gas and flatulence in dogs so it may be best to limit or avoid feeding it ricebeans.
