Curry powder is made using different spices. Some curry powders contain garlic, onion, pepper, cayenne pepper, etc. Some of these ingredients can be toxic to dogs. Ingredients like garlic and onion contain organosulfides which are known to cause severe damage to a dog’s red blood cells. It can even cause severe anemia in your dog.

Curry can also mean curry leaves.

Most dogs may be able to digest a small piece or two of curry leaves, but in large quantities, curry leaves could result in abdominal pain, vomiting, or diarrhea in dogs.

Moreover, curry leaves do not offer any nutritional benefits to dogs. Therefore, you may want to limit these flavor-enhancing herbs to human food and not use them to season or temper your dog’s meals.

To be on the safe side, please avoid both curry and curry leaves for dogs. If your dog has accidentally swallowed curry leaves or inhaled or licked curry powder, please call your vet.

To ensure your pet will live a long and healthy life, it is always a good idea to invest in pet health insurance. Preparing for the unexpected guarantees money is never an issue in keeping you pup healthy.
