You’ve heard that red bananas taste somewhere between a banana and a strawberry. If that isn’t a dream come to life, you are not sure what is. After going to an asian market to grab a couple red bananas, you remember that yellow bananas are a nice treat for dogs. You don’t want to just assume red bananas are the same. Can you offer some to your pup?
No. There is extremely limited information discussing red bananas and dogs that we could find. After digging and digging, what we could find was that red bananas (and also purple bananas for that matter) contain toxic glycoproteins called soluble oligomers. From what we could find on this is that they produce a disorder that affects the lipid membrane permeability and inhibit long-term hippocampus functionality
If you don’t know what that means, you surely are not alone. But the long and short is red bananas are not acceptable to give to your pup. Stick with ol’ yeller…. Wait no we mean yellow bananas only.
