Radishes are safe to feed dogs and many dog owners slice the radishes and add them to their dog’s food. However, radish greens aren’t safe for dogs to eat. They contain spicy ingredients which most dogs do not like. Also, the AKC advises not to feed radish greens to our canine pals as they could result in gastrointestinal issues in dogs.
Note that radish greens are not toxic – so, even if your naughty dog eats a couple of leaves, he/she should be fine. However, if eaten in excess, your dog could suffer from stomach pain, gas, bloating, or vomiting.
The good thing is that most dogs don’t appreciate the spicy taste of radish tops or greens and will stay away from them. If your pooch does eat a few leaves, observe it for a couple of hours. If any symptoms like pain or vomiting occur, consult your vet.
To ensure your pet will live a long and healthy life, it is always a good idea to invest in pet health insurance. Preparing for the unexpected guarantees money is never an issue in keeping you pup healthy.
