Your brother-in-law from Scotland keeps making “porridge” for breakfast and your dog has been at his side since he started the process. Can your pup have a bite?

Yes your pup can have oatmeal. Never serve your pup raw oatmeal. When you prepare oatmeal for a dog, use water as the base. Do not add anything other than water. Many people like to add butter, salt, or raisins. All of these additions pose danger to your dog.  When your pup has oatmeal it should be plain, cooked and cooled. 

As with all human food, oatmeal should only be given in small doses. Treats and human food should not account for more than 10% of your dog’s overall diet.
