Bloomin’ onion, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. But is it safe to give our furry friends?
No. Dogs cannot have any part of the onion. The skin, leaves, and juice are all toxic to your pup. They cannot have them cooked or prepared in any way, not raw, or even powdered.
Onions are part of the allium family. Allium also includes leeks, garlic, shallots and chives. All of which are also harmful to your dog.
The amount of onion consumption that causes toxicity is surprisingly low. Always be mindful of how snacks and food that contain onion are stored. Additionally, always check the ingredient list before you offer something to your pup.
If you suspect your dog has eaten some onions, watch for signs of toxicity.
