Pirates used oranges as a cure all on ships. We juice them, take them to soccer games, and sometimes even decorate with them during the holidays. Oranges sure have a lot of delicious uses, but are they safe for pups?
Oranges are safe for dogs, in very small quantities. Oranges have lots of Vitamin C and fiber, both of which can be beneficial to your dog.
Always remove the skin and seeds before offering orange to your pup. Both seeds and the peel are choking hazards and could also cause intestinal blockages.
Oranges are high in sugar. You should not give your dog more than a piece or two of an orange in a day. Excess sugar in a dog’s diet can lead to diabetes or obesity.
