Yes, dogs can eat cinnamon. While dry cinnamon is not toxic to your dog, cinnamon oil can be. Be sure to always keep the cinnamon oil out of reach of your dog. 

Cinnamon should not be offered to dogs. As humans we wouldn’t eat plain cinnamon. Your dog does not need seasoning on his food, in fact seasoning dog’s food should be avoided. However as a small treat, part of a safe baked good, cinnamon is safe. A safe cinnamon baked good should not contain nutmeg or xylitol, both of which are toxic.

Around a teaspoon of dry cinnamon will cause issues for pets. It would be surprising for your dog to get that far, since dry cinnamon typically causes difficulty breathing, coughing and hacking.

If your dog does get that far though there are some serious symptoms:

• Vomiting
• Hypoglycemia
• Reduced heart rate
• Diarrhea
• Liver disease
